About Deloitte

“Deloitte” is the brand under which tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms worldwide collaborate to provide audit & assurance, consulting, risk and financial advisory, risk management, tax, and related services to select clients.

My role at Deloitte

My role involved designing user experiences and interfaces for specialized applications. I collaborated with product managers and engineers to gather requirements from clients before designing ideas that could be used to solve real-world problems. My workflow was influenced by agile methodologies, which helped me increase my productivity and the quality of the product delivered.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at Deloitte:

1. Mastery of Design Systems:

  • Mastered the intricacies of the Deloitte Design System (DDS) and design processes, demonstrating a result-oriented approach.

2. Efficient Product Design:

  • Led the design efforts for the "Customer-Vendor Integration" add-in for MS Excel, aligning seamlessly with Microsoft Fluent design guidelines.

  • Realized a 10% reduction in user onboarding time, showcasing product design and management efficiency.

3. Streamlined Data Migration Planning:

  • Created an intuitive UI for a network bandwidth calculator, resulting in a substantial 20% decrease in support requests.

  • Streamlined data migration planning for engineers, enhancing operational efficiency without disrupting daily operations.

4. SAP Notes Implementation:

  • Designed the "SAP notes implementation" UI with a sharp focus on user-centricity and efficiency.

  • Efficient product design, reducing onboarding time and support requests.

  • Streamlined data migration planning, contributing to operational efficiency.

  • Improved user-centricity in the "SAP notes implementation," reducing process time and user errors.

Before embarking on any project, I conduct in-depth research to identify the unique challenges and opportunities presented. This process allows me to tailor my solutions to your specific needs, ensuring that the end result is nothing short of exceptional.

My problem-solving methodology

1) Product Requirements and Product Definition

I studied the product requirements received from the product owners, understood the flow, and cleared doubts regarding the necessities.

2) Product Research

Upon getting a general idea of the product and its definition, I researched the industry standards and identify opportunities for development within its niche.

3) Creating User Stories

It helped me with the product/service interactions from the user’s point of view.

4) Designing

  • Sketching: It helped me brainstorm and visualize a broad range of design solutions before deciding which one to choose.

  • Creating wireframes: A wireframe is a tool that helped me visualize the basic structure of the page to be designed, including the key elements and how they fit together.

  • Creating prototypes: prototypes are about the actual interaction experience, basically the look and feel.

Challenges and Learnings

  1. Adapting to the design system was an excellent opportunity, as I got to work with structured rules and guidelines, which was new to me.

  2. A lesser challenge was to conduct research under a time constraint. A plethora of information, references, and techniques can be utilized in designing a UI, and finding relevant design inspirations proved time-consuming.

My experience working at Deloitte

Although the entire internship was remote, I felt connected with my colleagues. Before I started working on real problems, my seniors guided and trained me. I learned quite a lot about the various aspects involved in product design and working in a team. For example, this was the first time I became familiar with Agile methodologies.

I had check-ins with my seniors, product team standups every day, and design critiques once a week. Having frequent and informal check-ins not only helped me stay on track and made sure I was moving in the right direction but also made me feel less isolated and able to get to know my coworkers personally. Because my projects were often collaborative, I communicated with my teammates often. Distance did not set us apart.
